Our Turkeys
Why choose a Stanborough Turkey?
We have been rearing and processing turkeys for Christmas since 1986 which officially means we have 40 years of experience within this industry.
Our Turkeys arrive on the farm in July as day old chicks where they begin life in the brooder. They have space to run around but most importantly they have heat to keep them warm and food and water to ensure they have the best start to life. Initially, we feed a specialised chick crumb which gives the poults all of the nutrients they need.
At around 3 to 4 weeks old the heat lamps are removed and they are moved into our Turkey Polytunnel where they have more space to run around and lots of fresh air. After a couple of weeks in the polytunnel we open up the doors and the turkeys are able to roam outside on the grass.
Our turkeys are grown to full maturity and processed in the traditional way on our farm. We hang our turkeys in the chiller for at least a week before processing them ready for your oven. This enhances their flavour and texture with the added bonus that there are no food miles attached to our turkeys.
